BMW Motorcycle Club Ontario is operating under the umbrella of BMW Clubs Canada and is also a chartered club of the BMW Motorcycles Owners Of America (MOA) and the BMW Riders Association (RA). The club is comprised of BMW motorcycle owners and enthusiasts from the Greater Toronto area as well as other communities in Ontario such as Tweed, Guelph, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Uxbridge, St-Catharines and Midland. At present, we count around 100 members.
The BMW Motorcycle Club Ontario has been around for more than 50 years. We pride ourselves on having the best BMW motorcycle club in Canada! One of the many things that our members have come to embrace is the intimate settings of our meetings in members' homes. In order to keep this meeting format going for many years to come, we have decided to cap the attendance at some of our member, home-based meetings to keep these at a manageable size for various reasons.
We are an old-fashioned social group of friends sharing a love of BMW bikes and of all types of food, hence our motto of "Live to Ride, Ride to Eat".We hold 9 or 10 'monthly' meetings every year, usually preceded by a group ride during the riding season. We also hold social events, not necessarily including riding, such as a winter getaway event, a summer or fall BBQ as well as an annual year-end dinner.
In addition to the 'monthly' group rides, volunteer members organize multi-day road trips to destinations all across North America a few times every year. Using the forums feature of our website, members can also broadcast their intention to go for impromptu rides and seek /offer a tag-along buddy.
Some of our members also use a private and hidden Facebook page to share information and partake in discussions.
Starting with the 2020 season, BMWMCO has selected GlobalMedic and the Dawn Ride as our charities of choice. Donations are collected through 50/50 draws at each of our monthly meeting and through the occasional silent auction.
